  1. Hi Meghan,
FYI: The visual did not embed on this page, for whatever reason, but I linked to it. Your visual text has an encouraging “never give up” message intended for women. Judging by the picture, it is meant for younger women, ages 16-24, say.

The organization of the scrapblog.com piece engages us visually as if we were reading. It invites us to begin in the top left corner with the phrase “If you think…” The rest of the message continues “that we won’t succeed…that we’ll give up…that we’ll drop out…then why would we Try? Expect More.” Each of these is written in a different sans serif font, bringing an informal hipness to the visual.

The photos resemble the sequence of feminine images from the ix:visual exercises we viewed in class, although I’m not sure that I can construct a narrative from the sequence or decipher a connection between the alphabetic text and the photographs.

All the women in the photographs appear to be white, and I’m not sure if this is intentional or circumstantial. This is the biggest issue, that the elements of the visual text seem haphazard rather than organized to enhance the message.

    Best,
    Steve Halle
